A career rooted in direct care — and shedding light on what fear keeps out of view

Eilon Caspi, PhD, began working in the field of aging in 1994 as a nurse aide in the nursing home where his grandfather lived. He later worked as a social worker, educator, dementia behavior specialist, elder-mistreatment researcher, and elder-care advocate.

His work draws on close review of government inspection and investigation records, the narratives beneath aggregate data, and conversations with residents, staff, families, advocates, attorneys, and others across long-term care.

Current roles and affiliations: Founding Member and Advisor, Elder Voice Advocates; Director, Dementia Behavior Consulting LLC. Recipient of the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care’s 2025 Janet Wells Public Policy Leadership Award.
